Girls Inc. Camps

The Girl Inc. program has two important mandates. The first one is to create work opportunities for young adults in the northern community. The second is to provide a safe environment for young girls between the ages of 12 and 18 so they can share their stories and experiences in order to gain self confidence and reach their full potential. This program was designed specifically with them in mind. We want to ensure that empowerment is not only promoted vertically, between the coaches and these young girls but also horizontally between the girls themselves.

This program is held for six weeks during the summer and is currently in the communities of: Puvirnituq, Inukjuak, Umijuaq and Kuujjuarapik.

Activities with the Girls in Mind

Since 2016 we have made our primary focus to teach and inspire young Inuit girls with activities that celebrate some of their traditional ways and culture. Although we do some activities to bridge non-traditional ways of life found within today's society with the reality of their communities.

Our activities are designed to strengthen and empower them with life skills. Some of our activities are: cooking, beading, hunting, throat signing, wellness & wellbeing, fitness classes, self-defenses classes, dance classes and journaling.

At the end we want to give them an experience that makes them grow while having fun.

Activities with the community
